The police department on Thursday credited Officer Justin Cobb with saving a woman’s life by intervening in a suspected suicide attempt.

Cobb was on routine patrol late last Friday when he noticed a vehicle pulled over in the 7400 block of Martindale Road. It looked unoccupied, but Cobb found a woman in the back seat who appeared to be asleep.

After trying to awaken her, he opened the car door, found the woman unresponsive and called Johnson County Med-Act. Medical officials said she was suffering from a suspected prescription drug overdose, a police statment said.
