A Chicago man pleaded guilty Monday to robbing an Overland Park bank _ apparently for the second time.

Xzavier Stewart, 23, robbed the Bank of the West at 9400 Antioch Road on Aug. 20. A teller recognized him as the same man who robbed her at the same bank less than a month earlier.

Stewart demanded “hundreds” and warned employees not to push the alarm button. Although apparently unarmed, Stewart said “hurry up and no one gets hurt,” according to the criminal complaint. The branch manager activated the silent alarm. He also followed the robber outside and got a description of his getaway vehicle.

Overland Park police soon located it and arrested Stewart after a chase that reached 20 mph. The bank said he stole $2,452. Stewart told police he needed money to send to his mother and to give to his girlfriend.

Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 19 in federal court. He could get 20 years.
