The city of Lenexa has an app: Lenexa 311, which allows residents to report problems on their mobile phones.
The free app is now only available through Apple’s iTunes, but will be available for Androids next spring.
Residents can use the application to report problems such as damaged road signs, potholes, improper signals and codes requests. The app allows residents to upload a photo of the problem, set the location and include details of the problem. Once the resident tells the app the type of request and submits the information, the correct Lenexa staff person is notified.
Residents also can see if someone else has reported the same problem.
The city plans to pursue a patent for the app and consider selling the technology.
