Overland Park City Councilman Jim Hix announced Monday that he is retiring from his seat. He plans to serve out the rest of his term, which expires in April.
Hix has been a familiar face in the community for several years.
He was first elected to the council in 2001 and has held numerous leadership positions, including council president. He has also served on the board of directors of numerous non-profit organizations.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my 12 years as a public servant for the residents of Overland Park,” Hix stated in an official release. “It gives me a great deal of satisfaction to have contributed to such a wonderful community.”
