The Kansas City Star

It’s not a “Get Out of Jail Free” card, but people with outstanding warrants in Shawnee will be able to turn themselves today without any additional penalties.

The Shawnee Municipal court is holding a Warrant Amnesty Day from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the Shawnee Justice Center, 5860 Renner Road.

The amnesty allows people with outstanding warrants to take care of cases without the fear of being arrested for their warrants and without having to post a bond.

Also, a warrant recall fee of $50 will be waived.

Defendants will be able pay any fines and fees or request continuances for their cases or more time to pay.

Those who believe they have an outstanding warrant or want more information on the amnesty day can call the clerk’s office at 913-742-6003.
